Passing Your Georgia State Permit Driving Test:

Drivers in almost all states must pass a written knowledge test before they can receive their permit, which allows them to go out on the road and learn the basics of driving. Drivers in Georgia can get their permit at 15 years of age if you have completed your “Driver’s Ed” classes when you were 14. You must have turned 15 and passed your permit test in order to get your permit. However, most students are usually about 16 years of age when they have completed an accredited “Driver’s Ed” class but those who qualify can get their permit earlier. Otherwise, they must wait until age 17 without the class.

What is Entailed in Passing The Georgia Learners Permit Practice Test?

When a prospective driver wants to get their permit they are required to pass a permit test in order to get their permit to be able to drive with someone else in the car with them. Students will have to pass the exam with a minimum of 15 of the 20 questions on the exam answered correctly. Applicants will have to successfully pass their written permit test in order to be able to get their permit and  begin learning how to operate a motor vehicle.

The questions are based on general knowledge of road signs, traffic signals, basic traffic patterns, and other driver etiquette and knowledge of safe driving practices. The information that you need to study for the permit test can be found in the Georgia Driver’s Manual found here.

How Do I Prepare For the Permit Test?

The “Driver’s Ed” class students take at their school will prepare them with a lot of basic information about driving that will help them come to understand the content on the permit test. Paying close attention in class and learning the basics will help the student pass the class so they are able to take their permit test and avoid having to wait till they are 17 to get their learner’s permit.

As for preparations outside of the classroom, there are often preparation classes that students can take that last as little as a few hours, often offered on weekends to help students brush up and get ready for their actual test.

There are also practice test online at the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) webpage that students can take. These practice tests offer questions like those that may appear on the exam to help students prepare. If a student can answer most of the questions on those Georgia learners permit practice test properly, there is a good chance that passing the permit test will also be achievable.

Conclusions:

Students who have passed their “Driver’s Ed” class and turned either 15 or 16 years of age have a great opportunity to take their learner’s permit test early. Those students who properly prepare and study for the exam can start learning to drive so they can get their temporary permanent driver’s license at the age of 17.
