Practice For The Learner's Permit Knowledge Exam In Virginia

All underage drivers in the state of Virginia are required to pass a written test before obtaining a learner’s permit. As a learner’s permit is an essential step toward getting your license, the DMV’s written permit test is an important milestone. The test will cover a variety of basic driving skills and road rules. Once passed, you’ll be able to apply for a learner’s permit and be a step closer towards the road test and your permanent driver’s license. Until then, preparing yourself for the learner’s permit test is the best way to ensure your success.

The learner’s permit test, known as the knowledge exam, consists of two separate parts. The first part contains ten questions pertaining to road signs. You must answer at least eight of these questions correctly to pass and move on the second part of the test. The second part will contain more general knowledge questions, of which you will need to answer 80% of correctly. All answers to both parts of the exam can be found in the Virginia driver’s manual. If unsuccessful the first time, you must wait a full fifteen days before retaking the test. While studying the material is important, taking a practice test is one of the best ways to prepare yourself for the exam. By applying your knowledge in a test setting beforehand, you’re more likely to retain information and apply it accurately during the actual exam. Once you’re fully prepared, you can schedule a test at any of the DMV’s customer service centers.

At Driver Knowledge, our pretests are designed to give you the best chances of passing your exam on the first try. Our questions come directly from the state’s driving manual and the actual tests themselves. Please feel free to utilize our resources as much as needed.
